How To Make Disinfectant Solution At Home

Notes when creating a disinfectant solution

Before creating a disinfectant solution, you must consider the following factors to ensure safety and remove bacteria effectively:

• Use it safely and keep it out of reach of children.
• Comply with the regulations and standards.
• Do not inhale and let the solution contact the skin.
• Use protective gear, such as gloves, masks… when contacting and creating the disinfection solution.

Alcohol disinfectant solution

Tools - ingredients

• ½ cup of 70% isopropyl alcohol
• ½ cup of white vinegar
• Essential oil
• Spray bottle or tissue

Formulation

• Step 1: Pour alcohol and essential oils into a spray bottle.
• Step 2: Vigorously shake the bottle to combine the alcohol and essential oils.
• Step 3: Pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar into the bottle and shake it again.

After completion, the solution can use to spray in various places. However, this solution does not utilize surfaces like granite or marble because it contains vinegar and will affect the floor quality.

Chloramine B

Chloramine B is a chemical with the formula C6H5SO2NClNa.3H20. It is recommended for use with 25% active chlorine to disinfect the surface and treat water. 

How to make chloramine B

Depending on the level of filth, the disinfectant solution is formulated differently. Using a 1:1 ratio, you can create a mild cleaning solution for floors and surfaces. For the infectious area, Chloramine B processing should adhere to the Ministry of Health's recommendations. The ratio can be as high as 5:1 to ensure thorough disinfection and cleaning.

Storing

• Keep away from children.
• After being used, the container must be covered tightly.
• Store it in a dry, cool place.

Chloramine B

Javel

Even though chloramine B is a highly disinfectant solution, it has an unpleasant odor. To overcome it, you can disinfect surfaces with bleaching agents such as javel. Although it is a laundry bleach solution, the active ingredient is natri hypochlorite, a chemical with recommended disinfecting properties. With the proper dosage, this product can be used as a typical household disinfectant.

Formulation

For disinfection, the same formula can be used for bleaching clothes. However, if weekly disinfection is required, the mixing ratio must be increased to ensure adequate cleaning and disinfecting capabilities.
